Accredited Civil & Chancery Mediator
Since completion of his undergraduate law degree [which also encompassed Psychology, Sociology and Criminology], Stuart has secured experience in a wide range of niche and boutique practices. This has enabled him to obtain not only a wide range of knowledge in areas such as litigation, sports, media and Intellectual Property but it has also exposed him to a wide range of principals and client matters which have helped him substantively develop his client skill set and his approach to the practice of law.
Stuart undertook an LLM in Intellectual Property from Southampton Solent University in 2001.
On completion of his LLM, Stuart spent time working in Washington DC for an Attorney who was also Washington DC’s Shadow Senator.
This enabled Stuart to work closely with the Senator’s Chief of Staff and Legal Affairs whilst appearing in the Superior Court of Washington DC undertaking advocacy [under the supervision of Senior admitted members of the DC bar] and working on class actions and as a “Guardian Ad Lidem”. After just over 12 months of working in DC, Stuart returned home where he worked for the Law Society before returning to America where he worked for 13 months for a boutique litigation practice in New York City where he worked until May 2006.
Following his return, Stuart joined, trained and qualified with one of the largest regional practices in the West Midlands undertaking a full range of Commercial and Chancery litigation. After 4 years with this practice, Stuart moved to another Legal 500 regional Midlands heavyweight where he specialised in Intellectual Property litigation. After a short stint with this practice, Stuart joined a leading Northampton practice where he returned to undertaking a full case load of Commercial and Chancery work. Since joining EHL Commercial in January 2015 and whilst undertaking a full range of Commercial and Chancery litigation, Stuart’s primary case load has been within Insolvency and Intellectual Property matters.
As such, Stuart’s clients regularly range from corporate entities to high net worth individuals in a wide range of matters including
Intellectual Property disputes, Shareholder and Partnership disputes, Film Scheme litigation, Class Actions and cross-jurisdiction litigation. Stuart also acts on behalf of Insolvency Practitioners in respect of recovering monies owed by Debtors and former Directors, wrongful and/or fraudulent trading matters and assists in restricting companies.
Stuart also acts as a Mediator and so works with Parties in trying to bring about a resolution to their dispute without the need (or minimising the need) of the Court.
In addition to the above, Stuart is also undertaking his Higher Rights qualification.
